Japanese Knotweed
I'll start with saying that we really got to know this plant when we were going down the rabbit hole of different environmental toxins. And to preface, I'd definitely recommend working with a naturopath or someone who works with mold toxicity ect because it's a rabbit hole and so complex.
But if you're dealing with mold toxicity, or even pesticide poisoning, here's what I've learned as far as steps to healing. Keep in mind, this is incredibly simplified.
A) support the elimination systems (liver, kidneys, lymph ect)
take a good binder. Clay is a really great binder. You'll want to take it around an hour before meals that will include fat. So you stimulate the production of bile, that way when your binder is ready when your bile is released in your intestines. You want to take a binder 3-4x a day for 2 weeks.
C)support glutathione levels. Mycotoxins wreck havoc on our ability to produce and use glutathione which then causes oxidative stress on the body. Schisandra is great for aiding with glutathione production. Which then causes extreme fatigue and a host of other issues, including chronic inflammation because your body is now in a stress response state.
D) heal from the inflammation caused by environmental toxicity. resveratrol is your friend for this, and it's a compound found in Japanese Knotweed.
Now, about Japanese Knotweed. I LOVE this herb. You may know Japanese Knotweed as an invasive edible (it's young shoots), but the root is incredibly medicinal! Not only has it been shown to support the immune system, but the circulatory system as well. Its probably most known for its anti-inflammatory properties, reducing inflammation in the airways during respiratory distress. We started really utilizing all that this root has to offer when we learned about it's ability to heal our bodies from mold toxicity. It has incredible amounts of resveratrol! Japanese Knotweed is pretty well known at this point for Lyme as well, however more and more studies are coming out showing just how incredible it is for immunomodulation. Its been found to protect ACE2 (enzymes attached to cells in the lungs, heart, kidneys, liver ect) by preventing viral attachment. It's been shown to be a powerful anti inflammatory and contains vitamin A and C, potassium, phosphorus, zinc and manganese. All are incredibly important right now. It has high resveratrol levels, more then any other plant that we know of. Its been found to help keep arteries and blood vessels dialted to help prevent blood clots.
And one final PSA. DONT PLANT THIS PLANT
